Hi, I’m John.
I offer therapy for people at the crossroads. For anyone feeling disconnected in an overly connected world.
You are in good company here. Welcome.
What I believe
I believe that we are each capable of embodying our most vibrant, authentic life. Good therapy can be part of the road to get there. (learn more about my services here).
I believe a healthy society is one in which we can put words on our values, our needs, and our emotions. This skillfulness allows us to communicate compassionately, have fulfilling relationships, and honor our true selves.
I believe that we are all beautifully complex as human beings. Complexity gives us richness and nuance and depth. It gives us idiosyncrasy and culture and the blues - soul food, soul music, and home cooked cornbread.

My story
I grew up in southern Louisiana - a sensitive kid with a lot of big feelings and big dreams.
I spent my twenties on the hustle as a full-time singer-songwriter and street performer in Los Angeles. I smile to think about all the lovely folks and fellow artists I’ve met along the way.
More recently, I found myself on a wholly unexpected new adventure with my wife and two boys - living and working in Japan for the past four years as a therapist with active duty soldiers and couples, after several years of serving Veterans through non-profits back in California.
My family and I recently bought a house on the (almost) east coast after falling in love with the city of Pittsburgh. I’m proud to establish my private therapy practice in this beautiful community.
Why I love this work
My personal journey, including all the joys and sorrows of the creative life - this journey inspires my passion for offering a supportive space of healing for fellow travelers. A space for dreamers, folks who feel deeply, and really anyone or any couple who is motivated to take even one uncharted step in the direction of more balance, more self-love, and less tripping ourselves up in doubt and inner criticism.
And because of my connections to Japan, Louisiana, California, and now, Pennsylvania, I’m grateful for the opportunity to be offering IFS and mindfulness-based teletherapy services in all these locations + in-person therapy at my home office in Pittsburgh.
You don’t have to figure this all out alone. I’d love to be part of your healing journey.
